Appointments

How to make an appointment

The Medical Centre is available between 08:00 and 18:30, Monday to Friday,  if you think you need to be seen or need to speak to someone, please call us or drop in and book an appointment. We are operating a Care Navigation system which means that your problem will be assessed when you speak to us and you will be directed to the most appropriate person to respond to your request. This may not always be a doctor, your issue may have been redirected to one of our Nurses or advice relayed via our Admin Team.

Pre-bookable face to face and pre-bookable telephone appointments are available to book up to six weeks in advance. This can be done via the reception desk, the NHS Wales APP, email or telephone. You will be able to choose between face to face or telephone appointment with a GP of your choice. Depending on availability, you may be able to book an appointment earlier if you book with any doctor.

We also run an emergency clinic each day for 'On the day Emergencies' only. The care navigators that take your calls will ask you what the emergency is. Depending on this information, you may be redirected to another service or put down for an appointment with the emergency doctor. You cannot choose who you see,  it will be the emergency doctor for that day. Please call from 08.00 each morning if you think you need an emergency appointment. If your problem is not an emergency for that day, you will be offered a pre-bookable appointment instead.

Please Note: Our staff are operating under the instructions of the Doctors. The doctors are aware that the staff are asking you questions if you call for an emergency appointment and have approved this in order to maintain an effective emergency system. Please understand this and be courteous to our staff who are only following procedures. Please also bear in mind that all our calls are recorded and we operate a zero tolerance policy on patients being abusive or aggressive towards our staff.

Please Note: Emergency appointments are a sit and wait appointment. You may have to wait some time depending on the numbers of patients needing to be seen. But all patients who have booked an emergency appointment will be seen. Please DO NOT use emergency appointments as a way of not waiting for the next routine appointment, you will be warned should you do this and risk removal from our practice list.

You can make or cancel appointments online via the NHS Wales APP. Visit the Online Services section of this website for further details.

You can also make a request via email or SMS to our admin email crwysadmin.w97041@wales.nhs.uk. A member of our admin team either text or email you back with an appointment. This will be the next available appointment. If you need an appointment on a specific date or time, you will need to contact us on 02920 524140. Please make sure you have you full details Inc. telephone no. on your request.

Patients between the ages of 16 – 74 who have not been seen at the surgery for a period of 3 years may request a consultation with a GP, at which any appropriate enquiries and investigations will be made. Consultations can also be requested by patients over the age of 75, who have not been seen at the surgery for 12 months or more. If you are unable to attend the surgery for these checks because of your medical condition, a home visit may be arranged

Please do not use these appointments to request forms or letters be completed. Call the Medical Centre and the staff will advise you what to do.
